Great British Radio announces new schedule
after successful DAB debut in Hampshire.
Great British Radio has announced a new programme schedule to capitalise on the successful launch of its DAB service in Hampshire just six months ago. By popular demand The Fizz star and TV presenter Cheryl Baker’s weekday show “Afternoons with Cheryl Baker” has been extended by one hour to run from 1pm to 4pm through Mondays to Fridays.
Meanwhile, two new voices have been introduced to the weekday audience to capitalise on the station’s increased profile. Neil Kefford will be hosting his own weekday show “The Kefford 3” from 10am to 1 and Chris Storey has a new show “Storey Time” from 4pm until 7. Neil brings his unique sense of humour to Great British Radio having enjoyed an 11-year career at first Invicta and then Heart in Kent. Meanwhile, seasoned broadcaster Chris Storey joins after spells on stations in the north-east including Century Radio, Durham FM and BBC Radio Tees.
Anchoring the refreshed weekday line up, which went live on Monday 4 September, is impressionist and entertainer Mike Osman, who hosts the Breakfast Show and has been the driving force behind Great British Radio since the station’s launch at the height of the pandemic in 2021.
Mike brings a wealth of experience to his role, having worked in light entertainment on TV and in radio particularly Capital Gold where he was breakfast show presenter for more than six years. He’s also in demand as one of the country’s best loved stand-ups and hosts of corporate events.
Great British Radio offers listeners a radical choice. Broadcast online, via the Great British Radio app and Alexa … and on DAB across London, Surrey and Hampshire, traditional news bulletins have been replaced by good news only bulletins and the nation’s favourite comedians make regular appearances as the station lives up to its slogan of Great Laughs, Great Guests, Great Music.
Mike Huston, Managing Director of Great British Radio said: “Our new schedule is testament to the fantastic reaction we’ve had from our listeners in Hampshire and their appetite for the kind of shows we broadcast. Cheryl is funny and warm and has a huge following so extending her show by an hour each day was, to be honest, a no-brainer. I’m also delighted to welcome two seasoned broadcasters to the team. In Neil and Chris we have two great guys who I know the audience will take to instantly.”
Great British Radio is also attracting sponsors and advertisers. Huston said: “We’re particularly proud to have Barratt Homes and the Richmond Group on board – two important brands in the region.”
He added: “We believe we offer a genuine alternative to what’s currently available and our collection of voices, thoughts and lives offers an escape for people who are tired of the doom and gloom.”
